About “Gravatars”

If you want to add a photo of yourself that would show up next to your comments on Sierra Mountain View, you can do so by choosing to “Leave a Reply” and selecting the radio button right next to the comment submission button as shown in the picture below:

Leave_A_Comment

Doing this will activate a notice that you might want a “Gravatar” and then you will get an email that will guide you through the process. You can get a photo ready that you might want to use before you answer that email. It takes a jpeg and then guides you through the steps to select a 96 pixel square section that will be used as a tag on your comments.

Below is a mock-up of the email you will receive:

Looks good, Mark. I’m trying to figure out how to get an avatar (De’s photo) in her account. Doesns’t seem to be a link to her account.

    Well Daru,

We found out that if you have the Gravatar already when you write the comment it will show up because that is when it checks to see if you have one. If you don’t have one and then sign up for one, the next time you look at the page (after refreshing your cache) it should show up.

Also, clicking that button that says you want a Gravatar let’s them know and activates an email that when you follow the link they send, makes the Gravatar from your photo. It is so easy that it seems a little difficult because it happens so fast and then you are done.
    (:
