Exhibition Opening Reception Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, 5:30 to 7:30 PM

Yosemite Renaissance has chosen the artists for their upcoming twenty-seventh anniversary show. The program’s opening reception is announced and here is a list of participating artists.

The programs of Yosemite Renaissance are intended to encourage diverse artistic interpretations of Yosemite. Its goals are to bring together the works of serious contemporary artists that do not simply duplicate traditional representations; to establish a continuum with past generations of Yosemite artists; and to help re-establish visual art as a major interpretive medium of the landscape and a stimulus to the protection of the environment. Historically, the arts have played a very important role in the establishment of our State and National Parks. It is our hope that they can be just as important in future efforts to preserve and protect that heritage.

Joan Constable and crew have put in a lot of effort to bring a new gallery to Oakhurst. I was there yesterday as they were preparing the space for the Grand Opening Reception happening tomorrow that promises to be an exciting time for all. Stop by to welcome the new space and meet the artists between 3:00 and 5:00 pm this Sunday!

3rd ANNUAL PORTRAIT SHOW — Nov. 5th

Yosemite Western Artists, a non-profit group of dedicated artists in the Sierra Foothills, will hold its third annual portrait show and sale on Saturday, Nov. 5th. This event will be held at the Gertrude Schoolhouse from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. All aspiring artists, prior models, and everyone interested in art in general are invited to attend. The artwork of the Friday Morning Portrait Painters will be featured.

The Gertrude Schoolhouse is located on rte. 600 off of 49S – a few miles outside of Oakhurst in Ahwahnee, CA. From Hwy 49S, take Road 600 toward Raymond for approximately one half mile. The historic schoolhouse is on the right. Signs will point the way.

Hoo Haw! We had a great time last Saturday at Gallery Row’s Reception for the Sierra Art Trails Preview Exhibit. Lori Ann Cole did her best to portray the artists in her stylistic interpretation of art and artist, and we have the results HERE!

The Yosemite Western Artists Tri-County Show, hosted by The Vision Academy, opened on May 28th and was a resounding success. Here are some videos of the presentation of awards being given at the end of the first day. The show will run until June 5th, at Oakhurst State Center Community College 40241 Hwy 41 (Corner of Road 426 & Civic Drive) ,Oakhurst, California.
